What do I need to know or do before attending my first class?

There are no set requirements, please come in and try any of our classes for up to one week free before signing up.

What should I wear to class?

We do not have a required uniform but we do ask that you wear clean form fitting rash-guard and shorts or a kimono where necessary. No zippers or buttons and we prefer no pockets.

That said, if you do not have the proper gear we won't let that stop you from trying a few classes.

Open mat is open to all local and traveling martial artists.

Open mat is free for our students and members. Non members should purchase a day or week pass to attend open mats.

I am traveling, can I visit the gym and attend training sesisons?

We love visitors. If it is your first time, you can benefit from our free week trial. If not; buy a day/week pass and feel free to attend any scheduled session.

JIU JITSU FOR KIDS

The kids at Rutland American Jiu Jitsu Academy learn lessons on the mat that they will likely carry with them throughout life, while having lots of fun.

Jiu Jitsu can help teach the value of hard work, perseverance, and respect for themselves and others. It also improves physical fitness, strength, flexibility, and coordination. It teaches valuable self-defense skills, boosts self-confidence, and promotes mental well-being by offering a sense of belonging amongst a team.

We offer kids classes twice a week (Monday & Wednesday 4:30pm-5:15pm). Ages 4-12 welcome.
